Old old old! The straight razor says 'Electric Fine Razor' on the blade, Edwards Sons Co. Comes in the Made in Italy case. The green thingy has the strop steel for the blade.
The little metal case (with leather inside) has the safety razor in 3 parts that assemble. Made of bronze I think. The wrapped blades say 'King Gillette' on the package. Nice find this if you like shavy stuff.

At the old Exhibition Gardens at Hastings and Renfrew. Cliff parker was the promoter and the wrestling world was just beginning to realize they could make more money with hype and oddball promotion than they could with sport! Here is my scrap book from that 50's era. Just before I started wrestling myself for the Western Sports Center.

The wrestling world was just populating itself with colourful characters, Tarzan Potvin who had two fingers missing on one hand, and we thought, in our early teens and vivid imaginations that he was following us one night! The threatening Germanic Kurt von Poopenheim, cool sleek Luther Lindsay, who looked like that long before steroids were thought of, mad looking Johnny Demchuck, Bud Rattal, and the Masked Marvel! We went to see Gorgeous George once and he threw gold 'Georgy Pins' into the audience! And then again saw World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz and were amazed at his quickness and awe inspiring strength. Strangler Lewis was his mentor.
And yes, after the crowd had left I crept to the ring and found those hairs from Johnny Cretoria's beard which his opponent had pulled causing him such pain! Life was simple then yet changing to the farce of today.

My Mom started during the war as a conductor of street cars and ended up as the first woman bus driver in BC with a route! The patches go from the old BC Electric to BC Hydro.

Hard cover, 412 pages, all browned with age, but very good condition, print is clear. No references to Mark Twain. 18 illustrations - initials EWK at first one. Explanatory at beginning about dialects used. Inside writing - “Merry Christmas to Adolph, from Mrs Warn 1940" Didn't Adolph also get Poland for Christmas in 1940?
One of the most endearing stories ever written.

... but they was pretty close to me then, and sung out and begged me to save their lives - said they hadn't done nothing, and was being chased for it - said there was men and dogs a-coming.

Leedy Olympian Banjo

Called a Leedy Olympian long-necked plectrum banjo by the old guy who replaced the head a few years ago. (silicon now) It is in great condition, made around 1927 in Chicago, he thought. None of the varnish is worn off the neck. Mother-of-Pearl inlays along the neck with what looks like ebony wood under the frets. Wonderful cut scroll work on parts of the metal. Could be shined but I am leaving it alone so as not to screw anything up. No backboard thingy but it sounds great.

Dinky Toys and London Toys. The red Wheel truck is TriAng, England as is the Minic Royal Mail van. The ambulance is Dinky Toy of England and the others are all London Toys, made in Canada. I love the front skirted wheels on the yellow coupe! Don't try any U-Turns!

Li'l metal motorbikers - circa 1930s

These are stunt riders! Don't try this at home! The teeny bikers are less than 2 inches long, all metal, seem like hard rubber tires, probably made in Britain. They sorta look like WWII dispatch riders on a secret mission.
The bike COULD be a 1931 AJS33 or more likely a 1931 Ariel Square-Four judging by the 'fishtail' exhaust and the gear lever alongside the tank on the right side. A stunning bike when introduced in 1931.

Lil German metal worker, he's making something. Great mustache. The red piece goes up and down if the wheel is turned. I think he's making a Mercedes out of old Messerschmitts. Pieces missing. He had something in his hands, perhaps a bratwurst. It says on his pantcuff - Made in Germany U.S. zone - Terrific detail in the paint. He's about 4 1/2 inches high.

Old Clown windup toys

Nice set of two, the painting detail is amazing. I think these are circa 1940s. The drummer is all metal, about 8" high, the trike rider has a plastic head and hands, just over 6". Both are windup and both work. The drummer wobbles side to side with rhythm as he drums and the trike clown goes forward about 4 inches and then back. Very entertaining pair from another age.

Check out the bee detail on the shoe! This drummer is all metal and in excellent shape and he plays too! Who needs batteries? This guy will be going LONG after the EverReady Rabbit.

Ride 'em trike clown, has real cloth clothing. His left arm is a little bit apart because he was inappropriate with the Bearded Lady, otherwise excellent condition.

Original baseball cards from 1951 Vancouver Capilanos, all black and whitecards. These are from long before the card companies started keeping half their printing to rip off the collectors.
Some of these players were born in 1924! Chuck Abernathy, Jerry Barta, Pete Hernandez, Carl Gunnerson, Bob Snyder, Bill White, George Nicholas, Bob Duretto, a black man Jesse Williams probably among the first professionals after Jackie Robinson led the way! There's even one signed by Mrs Johnny Ritchie, how about that! (she was beautiful)
They all played in Capilano Stadium in Vancouver, Now Nat Bailey Stadium.
A compliment to any serious collection.

Bob Snyder Card. On opening night of Capilano Stadium, (now Nat Bailey Stadium) June 15, 1951, Snyder led the Vancouver Capilanos to a 10-3 win and allowed only 6 hits.

These movie props were used in the movie Stealing Sinatra, filmed in Vancouver, BC and starring David Arquette and William H. Macy. It was a nightclub scene as the Coconut Grove in Hollywood. The plot was the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra Jr. William H. Macy might have even touched these matches. In perfect condition.

Wooden Jeep circa 1940s
This is not your surfer dude's Yellow CJ, it's been around since the forties! All wood, including the wheels, large, about 16" long. Some parts missing, like the windscreen, but there was a war on then, what would you expect? I think this was the one Sean Connery rode in while making A Bridge Too Far. Okay okay, maybe not but it's neat.

Pages are not colour inside, and a little yellowed. Published by Whitman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin.
Selected by Mary Nancy Graham, illustrations by F.D. Lohman. Has 23 songs, Silent Night etc, all with music notation and b&w picture. Very nice condition.

Leedy 4 string plectrum banjo

This banjo has a wonderful tone for those who can play it. Who am I kidding? After all these years my fingers are arthritic, I won't be strummin' Steven Foster songs. It was reconditioned by an old guy in West Vancouver in about 1980. He put on a silcon head and added some extra parts he had around to finish it. He said it is called a 'Leedy long necked 4 string plectrum' banjo, and it was made around 1927. It is in good condition and comes with the old case with purple interior, which is not in great shape. The only comparable banjos on EBay that I can find, are plastic ones.
Will deliver in Vancouver area. Asking about $3500 obo.
